Metallica bass player Robert Trujillo made a special guest appearance alongside Rodrigo y Gabriela at a gig in Chicago on Friday (October 16).
Trujillo joined the duo on special rendition of Metallica's 'Orion', which Rodrigo y Gabriela have previously incorporated into their own music.
Gigwise understands that Trujillo had intended to visit the dentist on Friday, but changed his plans when he heard the duo were performing at the Riviera Theatre.
The bass player is a long time fan of the musicians and is known to keep in contact with Rodrigo via email.
In a message on Twitter after the gig, Rodrigo y Gabriela wrote: “Amazing show at Chicago.
"Robert Trujillo jammed with us on stage great fun and amazing guy he is!! Loved the crowd!!! Gracias !!!”
