Boyzone star Stephen Gately has died while on holiday in Majorca. He was just 33-years-old.
A statement on the band's website confirmed that the Irish singer was found dead on the Spanish Island yesterday (October 10) where he was holidaying with his long-term partner Andy Cowles.
It's believed that he went out for drinks yesterday evening, returned to his accommodation but never woke up.
Band mate Ronan Keating is said to be “totally devastated” by the news and is coming to meet the rest of the band in Majorca from America.
Boyzone's managed Louis Walsh was told about the death after the X Factor show on ITV last night where he is a judge.
He told the BBC: "We're all absolutely devastated. I'm in complete shock. I was only with him on Monday at an awards ceremony. We don't know much about what's happened yet.
"I only heard after The X Factor and we will rally around each other this week. He was a great man."
Gately enjoyed 16 top 5 singles with Boyzone in the 1990s and later enjoyed a brief solo career. The Irish pop act reformed last year.
