Reading Festival organisers have been slapped with a £4,000 fine for breaching health and safety rules.
Promoters, Reading Festivals Ltd, admitted two charges brought against them for failing to carry out a thorough risk assessment ahead of an incident which injured two workers.
During the preparations for the festival in 2006, two men were hurt when a crane collided with a power line on the festival site.
In court yesterday, Deputy District Judge Peter Greenfield remarked that it was “strange” that “neither the council nor the company took the time to realise there might be a hazard from the over-head wires," reports the BBC.
As well as the fine, Reading Festivals Ltd. were ordered to pay £21,769 in prosecution costs.
