This Is It, the documentary film about Michael Jackson's ill-fated comeback tour, will premiere simultaneously in 15 cities across the globe on October 27 and 28.
Locations confirmed so far include London, Los Angeles, New York and Rio de Janeiro.
More cities are also scheduled to host premieres, including Moscow and Sydney, but these will not be staged at the same time.
Directed by choreographer Kenny Ortega, This Is It has been created from over 100 hours of behind-the-scenes footage of Jackson as he rehearsed for his planned London comeback shows.
The singer died on June 25 - just two weeks before his comeback was due to begin.
The movie will be given a limited two-week cinema release from October 28. Tickets go on sale on September 27.
