Muse have topped the official UK album chart with ‘The Resistance’.

The record is the Devon band’s fifth studio album and third in a row to scoop the top spot.

Last week’s number one Vera Lynn fell one place to two, while reality star Peter Andre was a new entry at three with ‘Revelation’.

Jay-Z’s ‘The Blueprint 3’ and ‘Draw The Line’ by David Gray were new entries at four and five respectively.

Jamie T’s 'Kings & Queens’ fell from number two to eleven, according to the Official Charts Company.

Arctic Monkeys also fell from number four to twelve with 'Humbug'.

Meanwhile, the singles countdown was topped by Taio Cruz’s ‘Break Your Heart’.

Madonna’s ‘Celebration’, which is taken from her forthcoming same-titled retrospective, went in at number four.
