Last month Gigwise hosted a competition for two lucky winners to attend an exclusive advance listening session of Muse's 'The Resistance'.
The session was held on the top floor of Centre Point looking out over the whole of London - a perfectly apt location for such an epic album.
The lucky winning Muse fans were Shane Leedham and Alex Robertson who each wrote (totally unbiased) reviews of the record afterwards.
Read their thoughts below:
Shane Leedham
"There is no one word in the English language which can describe how awesome The Resistance is.
The way some of the songs flawlessly glide onto the next track is amazing, especially I Belong To You, and all three parts of Exogenesis like a well tailored suit; you can’t tell that they are separate tracks.
When I try thinking about which is the best song in my opinion my mind goes to war between Guiding Light and Unnatural Selection, but that’s not to say that the rest of the album is not as equally as epic in comparison."
Alex Robertson
"Muse’s new album “The Resistance” is very difficult to put into words. This record is going to be my favourite for a very long time to come. It’s their masterpiece. It’s everything you could possibly love in music all in one and so perfectly done too. It’s the new Dark Side of The Moon, the new Led Zep Four. Muse have created something completely not of this earth. It’s Rachmaninov meets Rage Against The Machine, crazy but beautiful. After each album I think to myself that they just can’t possibly get any better and every time they prove me wrong."
'The Resistance' is released through Warner Bros. on Monday (September 14).
