Elbow: New Album Could Take FIVE Years To Finish Add to My Fav Bands List

Bad news for Elbow fans – bassist Pete Turner says it could be FIVE years until they release the follow-up to 'The Seldom Seen Kid'.

The 34-year-old says the band are feel under intense pressure to make an album that will surpass their coveted fourth record.

Turner told BBC6music that they have "lots of bits and bobs down" but warned it could be much longer until the finished album materialises.

He said: "If it's three, four, or five years time, this next album has got to be the absolute 'dog's' so we'll see."

Earlier this month, Guy Garvey said that Elbow had about 40 songs written which could make the shortlist for the album.

However, he said he had “no idea” when the record would see the light of day.

Roll on 2014!!!

  • Elbow seriously need to get their heads down and make a follow-up to The Seldom Seen Kid. After all the fuss that record created, following it up with a flop would be a TOTAL embarrassment.

  • They would never make a flop Nigel. Actually in the eyes of many of their fans who have appreciated their preceding 3 albums, and all the b-sides and collaborations. The Seldom Seen Kid has not been any better than what went before. It has been timing, with a lot of attention by the media this time that has given such hype to this album in particular, go and really listen to all their other music, there is plenty to keep you going there for quite a while! and no need for them to feel pressure.

  • The quality of Seldom Seen Kid was the same amazingly high standard as all that went before - perhaps the additional appeal of their last album was the fact it had a warmer heart and more positive outlook?
