Dragonslayer Films and John Hillman failed to be met with approval from Janie Hendrix who runs the late star's estate. It was consequently prevented via a High Court injunction as it was claimed the film makers didn't have the rights to use Hendrix's likeness or image.
Hendrix, who was recently voted the best electric guitarist of all time in a magazine poll, died in 1970 after ingesting nine sleeping tablets and choking on his own vomit.
Reports are circulating that a biopic of late guitar god Jimi Hendrix is being developed by Legendary Pictures.
The production company are planning to seek approval from Hendrix's estate after the film has been developed, although the agreement is seen as 'loose' as nothing as yet has been set in stone, Variety reports.
This isn't the first time that a biopic of Hendrix has been proposed. A previous attempt in 2006 by
