Legendary music producer Phil Spector has reportedly described his horror at being held in what he describes as a “snake pit” prison alongside with other dangerous inmates.
Writing to his friend Steve Escobar, himself a musician and journalist, Spector said of his current situation that he was attempting, “to get a better prison with people more like myself in it during the appeal process instead of all these lowlife scumbags, gangsters and Manson types....They’d kill you here for a 39-cent bag of soup!”
The 69 year-old also spoke of the impact that visits from his 29 year-old wife Rachelle had on him calling them a “Darwinian blessing” and that “...All in all, it's like a dream come true having her by my side again."
The reports follow the news last month that Spector was “not doing great” behind bars and that he had allegedly been contacted by Charles Manson to start a music career for the murderer.
Spector began serving a 19 year sentence for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson in earlier this year.
