Chart topping La Roux has spoken about how she feels sorry that her fellow newcomer Little Boots suffered harsh critical reviews.
Elly Jackson said she believed the media was partially responsible, because it “creates too much hype about new artists who are then expected to secure bestselling records”.
"The reaction she got was so unfair. Hype can be a very dangerous thing, it can accelerate people's expectations," she told the Daily Star.
She added: "We felt the same about our album but we have got away with it."
Little Boots debut album 'Hands' entered the charts at number five before dropping to number forty the following week.
La Roux's self-titled debut was only kept off the number one spot by Michael Jackson on the week of its release.
