Ian Brown has revealed two of the songs included on his new album were originally written for Kanye West and Rihanna.
Brown said he was invited to pen lyrics for West by by the songwriter Dave McCracken, who co-wrote the singer's hit solo single, 'F.E.A.R.'.
“We wrote this song called 'Vanity Kills' but we were a bit late sending it in, so I’ve kept it for the album,” Brown told Citylife.
Brown said his forthcoming single 'Stellify' was also originally intended for Rihanna.
“'Stellify', we wrote for Rihanna, but as we got to the end of writing it I thought, ‘You know what? I’m gonna keep this for myself, we’ll give her another one’,” Brown told Citylife.
“She’d have probably sung it better. but it is too good for me not to do it.
“And then it was like, ‘Let’s just keep going’, and before we knew it we had half an album in the bag.”
'Stellify' is released on September 12 – a week ahead of Brown's album 'My Way'.
