Queens of the Stone Age star Josh Homme has said he decided to co-produce Arctic Monkeys new album after being “sucked in” by their lyrics.
Homme told GQ he was especially impressed by the band's singer and songwriter Alex Turner.
“Alex sounded like a rare poet playing music – he has a special gift for the gab," Homme said.
Homme produced 'Humbug', which is released on August 24, alongside Simian Mobile Disco star James Ford.
Ford told Gigwise exclusively that fans of the Arctic Monkeys would be “a bit shocked” by the album.
"They're trying to be an interesting and creative band and move things forward and they're a talented enough band to achieve that,” he added.
