Fans of Oasis have voiced their surprise after the band failed to make the short list for this year's Mercury Music Prize.
The Manchester group had been hotly tipped to scoop a nomination for their eighth album 'Dig Out Your Soul'.
But the 2008 LP was not among the 12 nominated albums announced at a ceremony in London this morning.
Oasis fan Wilkopops told Gigwise he was “outraged” by the band's omission, adding: “'Dig Out Your Soul' was class.”
Another fan, Bob, was also surprised: “This is a travesty.”
As previously reported on Gigwise, Kasabian, Friendly Fires and La Roux are among the 12 acts nominated for this year's Mercury Music Prize.
The Horrors, Florence and the Machine, Sweet Billy Pilgrim and Speech Debelle have also been short listed for the honour.
But a host of hotly tipped acts, including Doves and Lily Allen, were not included by judges.
The 2009 Mercury Prize ceremony will take place in London on September 8
