Blogger Gets Two Months Home Detention For Leaking Guns N Roses Songs

In Los Angeles...

A blogger who leaked songs from Guns N' Roses' latest album 'Chinese Democracy' ahead of its release has been sentenced to two months home detention.

28-year-old Kevin Cogill posted nine tracks from the record on the website antiquiet.com in June 2008 and pleaded guilty to his crime in December.

Despite Cogill removing them at the label's request, around 1,000 people downloaded the songs in the short time they were online.

At court in Los Angeles yesterday Cogill was sentenced by the judge to stay at home for two months instead of the six months sentence prosecutors were after.

Apologising in court, Cogill said: "I never intended to hurt the artist. I intended to promote the artist because I'm a fan."

It was originally thought that Cogill could be fined up to a whopping $100,000 but the judge waived this saying he was not intending to profit off the leak.
