Michael Jackson's former wife Debbie Rowe is to attend the singer's public memorial service in Los Angeles tomorrow, it's been reported.

Rowe, who divorced from Jackson in 1999, is believed to have been invited as a VIP to the ceremony at the Staples Centre.

"Debbie will attend. We just got confirmation last night from the people who are handling the VIP seats that they do have Debbie's seats and she will be attending,” Marc Schaffel, a former  associate of Jackson, told Good Morning America.

Rowe is the mother of Jackson's two eldest children - Prince Michael Junior, 12 and Paris Michael Katherine, 11.

There has been ongoing confusion since the star's death last month as to whether she will seek custody of the children.

In an interview with NBC last week, Rowe said: “I want my children back.” But Schaffel failed to clarify Jackson's ex-wife's stance on Good Morning America.

He said: "Debbie did not sell the rights to her children. What I don't think most people realise is Debbie Rowe has been a very close friend of Michael's for over 25 years.

"She wanted him to have children. They made a deal. Michael would raise the children. Obviously that's changed."

Rowe's previous attempt to gain custody in 2003 ended three years later in a private settlement.

Jackson's children are currently in the temporary guardianship of his mother, Katherine.

    • I would be surprised if Debbie Rowe attends. Especially if she is going to go after Custody. I'm well up for seeing her get the kids - she deserves them!

    • Yes, the kids should be with their mom if their dad has passed away. They always should have close contact with the Jackson family. His mother is too elder to raise three young children. It takes a lot of energy. She is older. Teresa
