Fans will be able to register for tickets to Michael Jackson's public memorial service, Gigwise understands
The ceremony will take place at the Staples Center at 10am on Tuesday (July 7).
Eleven thousand tickets will be made available to the general public, who will have to register in advance.
Guests reported to be attending the public memorial include Jackson's close friends Elizabeth Taylor and Diana Ross, who was named in the star's will.
Full details about the ceremony will be announced during a press conference at the Staples Center later.
There has been widespread speculation over how Jackson's life would be marked ever since his death on June 25.
Initial reports that claimed Jackson's body would go on public display at his former Neverland home were denied by the star's family.
But they added that they were keen for Jackson to be given a public memorial.
The Staples Center – home of the Los Angeles Lakers – is one of the city's most high profile venues.
AEG Live's chairman Randy Phillips, who masterminded Jackson's planned comeback gigs in London, revealed earlier this week that he had offered the venue to Jackson's family.
Michael Jackson died last month following a suspected heart attack at his home in Los Angeles. He was 50.
