Alan Cumming will star in the Broadway adaptation of Spider-Man,which features music by U2.
The actor, who was recently awarded an OBE, will play Green Goblin, the alter ego of Norman Osbor.
At present, it is not known who will play Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man, although Evan Rachel Wood will play his girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson.
Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark is being directed by Julie Taymor and adapted for the stage by scriptwriter Glenn Berger.
The musical, which opens next spring, features lyrics and music written by U2's Bono and The Edge.
