Musicians and celebrities are tonight paying tribute to Michael Jackson, who died this afternoon of a suspected heart attack.

Former Fugees star Wyclef Jean said Jackson, 50, was his “Music God”.

“He made me believe that all things are possible, and through real and positive music, you can live forever!  I love Michael Jackson. God Bless him,” Jean said in a statement.

Other stars have turned to Twitter to express their sadness at Jacksons death.

Diddy wrote: "Michael Jackson showed me that you can actually see the beat. He made the music come to life!! He made me believe in magic. I will miss him!"

"I have no words.. I loved Michael Jackson.. RIP,” MC Hammer said.

Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz said he had “never felt this before in my life”.

"I could measure my childhood to now on an MJ growth chart. If this is true. Rip. The last legend,” he added.

Former Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland said: "Michael you left such a legacy on this earth, have touched SO MANY!!!

“We thank you for such a driving inspiration in music & our lives!!"

Further tributes are expected to arrive over the coming hours and days.

As previously reported on Gigwise, Jackson died upon arrival to a Los Angeles medical facility on Thursday afternoon.

He is understood to have suffered a heart attack at his home.
