Rihanna did not want her former boyfriend Chris Brown's protective order to include stay away conditions, her lawyer has said.
Brown has been told to refrain from coming within 50 yards of Rihanna except at public gatherings, such as awards ceremonies, when the distance is reduced to ten yards.
But Rihanna's lawyer, Donald Etra, told Entertainment Weekly, the singer did not feel the stay away order “was necessary”.
"Rihanna requested that there only be a protective order, namely that Chris be ordered not to annoy, molest, or harass her,” Etra said.
At present, the order will remain in place for five years, although this could be reduced to a limited period at a later date.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Brown pleaded guilty to one count of assault against Rihanna in court yesterday, but escaped jail after he entered a plea deal.
As well as the protective order, Brown was sentenced to five years' probation and ordered to undertake six months of community service.
Brown was charged with assault over an incident between the former couple in Los Angeles in February.
