Oasis' show at the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on Wednesday (June 17) descended into violence as fights broke out amongst the 70,00 strong crowd.

Police confirmed there were eight arrests and two reports of assault, while one man was hospitalised after being beaten by a gang of thugs.

'Alcohol fuelled' fighting broke out before the band took to the stage, with reports citing rivalry between locals and fans from Glasgow as fuelling the violence.

The hospitalised man was allegedly beaten by five men while Kasabian were performing in broad daylight and was carried away on a stretcher once fellow gig-goers had managed to intervene.

A witness told Scotland's Daily Record they blamed security for not doing enough: “Stewards were looking on and not doing anything. It was a proper beating this guy was taking. Even when he was out cold, they were attacking him."

Another female fan told the newspaper: "At one point, one of them actually stamped on the guy's face or body. What angered me more was that security stood by."

The Daily Record has obtained a video of the attack and are asking witnesses with any information to come forward.
