Pete Doherty has compared the paparazzi to workers in Nazi concentration camps.
The troubled singer guested on BBC TV show Panorama: The Death of Kiss and Tell last night which looked at the media's intrusion into celebrities' private lives.
The Babyshambles star claimed that the way paparazzi blame their actions on newspaper demands is a similar mindset to the Nazis.
He said: “It's going to sound really extreme but you know even the people who were like shovelling bodies into gas chambers were saying 'we're just obeying orders.' You've got to accept responsibility for what you do.
“If your actions as an individual are directly having a negative affect on someone else's life then you can't say 'you're doing your job.'
"You know you're not just doing your job, you're doing your job and fucking up someone else's head."
The 30-year-old also compared the scenes outside his friend Amy Winehouse's home as a zoo: “(It) was murder, it was like London Zoo really. It doesn't make for a comfortable scene. It's weird, it's dark, twisted, ugly."
