The two suspects in the murder of Lebanese pop star Suzanne Tamim have been sentenced to death by hanging in an Egyptian court.
Tycoon Hisham Talaat Moustafa and retired police officer Mohsen al-Sukkari were found guilty of killing Tamim in a luxury apartment in Dubai in July.
Reports suggest the singer was planning to end her romance with Moustafa when she was killed. He was charged with ordering her killing, while al-Sukkari was charged with carrying out the murder.
A Cairo judge ruled on Thursday that the pair must face the ultimate punishment for their crimes.
The decision is due to be confirmed by the mufti, an interpreter of Islamic law, before the sentence is carried out and Tamim's family are glad to finally put an end to the tragic case.
The star's father, Abdel Sattar Tamim, who lives in Beirut, says, "We have full faith in the Egyptian judicial system and we are awaiting the final ruling. The family is all gathered and we are following this closely."
