Jarvis Cocker Starts Cashier Job At London's HMV

Jarvis Cocker started a new, very brief job earlier today - working behind the cash counter at HMV on London's Oxford Street.

Instead of doing a bog-standard CD signing to promote the release of his new album 'Further Complications', the 45-year-old Britpop legend took a more hands on approach by manning the tills for two hours.

After finally getting to grips with the bar code scanner this morning, Jarvis was on his way, serving customers and passing comment on their purchases.

Aside from the odd Handel album (of course), the vast majority of the records Jarvis sold were actually his own.

'Further Complications' is released today. Click through below to see Jarvis working at HMV:

    • Being a staff member at the HMV Oxford Circus store, I have to say I was surprised, Jarvis was actually quite good on the till though we rather belatedly thought we ought to have made him wear one of our HMV staff T-shirts which would have been far more confusing for his fans and more amusing for us :)
