Half of the Stone Roses reformed last night when frontman Ian Brown was joined onstage by former bass player Mani.
Monkey man Brown was performing at the Blackpool Empress Ballroom, the scene of a classic Roses gig in 1989 that featured on a Stone Roses video, when he called for Mani to join him onstage. He had already performed six other songs from his previous band’s back catalogue before the pair launched into ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ reports NME.
As previously reported on Gigwise Brown was recently embroiled in an onstage fight with a fan in San Francisco, a video of the scrap has surfaced on the internet and shows Brown rabbit punching the wayward fan while other band members seemed to be kicking the sprawled crowd member in the head. All charges relating to the incident have since been dropped.
Rumours are afoot that Brown and Mani will perform together again this weekend during the second night of 48 Hour Party People at Brixton Academy on Saturday (26/4/05), hosted by The Happy Monday’s and The Farm with support form The Clone Roses who may be less “cloned” than usual.
