An interview with DJ Andy Kershaw, which had been due to air tonight (April 28) on BBC Radio 4, has been dropped.
The former Radio 1 DJ was jailed last year after he breached a restraining order banning him from making contact with his former girlfriend.
The interview with John Humphries was intended to demonstrate how Kershaw was “rebuilding his life and career”.
But a BBC statement said: "The aim of the programme was to explore the events leading to Kershaw's breakdown and his subsequent efforts to recover, whilst providing the other parties involved with an appropriate degree of privacy.
"This, however, did not prove possible."
The statement added that Kershaw’s behavior during the interview had not influenced the broadcaster’s decision.
Kershaw was given a six month suspended prison sentence in December after he breached his restraining order.
He was also told to attend anger management and drug and alcohol courses as part of a supervision order.
