The Deadbeats have been announced as the overall winners of the Glastonbury Unsigned Performers Competition securing them a gig on the Other Stage at this year’s festival.
The Salford band beat the likes of Jim Moray 4, Scouting for Girls, Second Person, Red Hand Band and Whalebone Polly to win the Glastonbury Acoustic Stage Comp on Friday at the Pilton Working Men's Club in Somerset.
Glastonbury king Michael Eavis who sat on the panel for the competition made extensive notes on four of the other acts but simply wrote "Winners" on The Deadbeats page.
Eavis called up the band last night to tell them that they would be performing on the Other Stage.
The Overall winners last year were Welwyn Garden City’s finest, The Subways who have gone on to release singles, record their debut album and have toured extensively since last summer.
Things are already moving just as fast for The Deadbeats who are signing a management deal today as well as appearing on a charity compilation of the 24 finalists from this year's Glasto comp on Concrete Recordings later this year.
Speaking to Gigwise frontman Sam Hammond said: “Its madness I can’t believe it!”
Catch the Deadbeats next at The Mad Hatters Tea Party, Corsica Studios, Elephant and Castle, London or at Jabez Clegg, Manchester on April 6.
