Green Day's 2004 album 'American Idiot' is to be made into a musical, singer Billie Joe Armstrong has revealed.
Armstrong said the long-rumoured production will begin in California in September, but could eventually reach Broadway.
"It doesn’t make a lot of sense, but that’s what I love about it,” he told the New York Times. “When people see it, it’s going to be my wildest dream."
The production will be made in collaboration with Michael Mayer, who produced the recent West End show Spring Awakening.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Green Day release their new album '21st Century Breakdown' on May 21st.
