    Phil Spector Jury Considering Verdict

The jury in the murder retrial of Phil Spector, who is accused of killing a B-movie actress six years ago, has retired to consider its verdict.

Spector denies killing Lana Clarkson at his home in Los Angeles. His defence argues the actress killed herself.

"Mr Spector did not kill Lana Clarkson. That's what the evidence shows," Spector's lawyer said during the closing arguments earlier this week.

The jury has been told to consider the charge of murder or a lesser charger of manslaughter against the music producer.

If found guilty of murder, Spector faces 15 years to life in prison.
Manslaughter carries a maximum sentence of four years.

Spector's original trial last year resulted in a hung jury.

Ten jury members voted to convict the music producer, but under Californian law a unanimous verdict is required.
