Chris Brown will have to wait another month to hear if he faces jail time for allegedly attacking his girlfriend Rihanna.
The 19-year-old R&B megastar appeared briefly in court in Los Angeles for an arraignment hearing yesterday (March 5) where the singer and his attorney Mark Geragos were granted a continuance to 6 April.
Geragos is reportedly keen to strike a plea deal with prosecutors to keep Brown out of jail. He could face four years and eight months behind bars if convicted of assault.
Brown has been charged with two felonies over his alleged fight with girlfriend Rihanna a month ago, which left the Umbrella singer battered and bruised and in need of medical attention.
The singer arrived at court in a black SUV and stood silently as the judge granted the delay and ordered Brown not to "annoy, harass, molest, threaten or use force or violence against anyone."
The judge also enquired whether Brown is to be banned from contacting Rihanna, but the star's lawyer, Geragos, stepped in, adding, "Miss Fenty (Rihanna) does not request this type of order."
