Jailed US rapper DMX could face additional punishment after he allegedly threw a tray of food at a prison officer.
The rapper, who is currently serving a 90-day jail term, was charged with aggravated assault, County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said.
Arpaio told the Associated Press news agency DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, became angry after he was told he could not eat a meal he had taken from a serving tray.
Simmons, who was on a bread and water diet for another violation, then allegedly threw the tray at the on duty prison officer.
The unnamed official wasn't injured.
Simmons was jailed in January after he pleaded guilty to charges of drug possession, theft and a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty.
