U2 frontman Bono has admitted that the band still feel pressure when recording new albums.
The singer said the group found it challenging to satisfy their existing fan base, as well as providing something new.
“A lot of people have a U2 album, why would they want another one?” the singer told the BBC.
“It’s a very good question and we have to fight very hard to explain why we think, it’s worth coming along for the ride with us, we really do. That’s not false, that’s how we feel.”
The group's new album, 'No Line On The Horizon' which is released next month, is preceded by the single 'Get On Your Boots'.
Guitarist The Edge said the song had been inspired by their punk roots.
“Although it couldn’t be a more simple guitar idea, it’s just the punk rock chords,” he said.
“It’s back to the Ramones, Buzzcocks. It’s like the simplest form possible, but just the right distortion pedal.
“I plugged it in for the first time and you know, I had this loop of Larry going, and I’d started playing these chords and that tune, we only ever played it once. It was just a fifteen minute jam.”
As previously reported on Gigwise, U2 are heavily promoting their new album on the BBC – a deal which has attracted criticism from viewers.
