Slumdog Millionaire has dominated this year's Academy Awards with eight wins, including two Oscars for composer AR Rahman.
The Indian composer won Best Score and Best Song for 'Jai Ho', which featured a collaboration with M.I.A..
Accepting the award for Best Song, Rahman paid tribute to the film's director, Danny Boyle, who he said had given him “such a great opportunity”.
He also acknowledged the film's message of “optimism and the power of hope and our lives".
Meanwhile, TV pictures showed jubilant scenes in the composer's home city of Chennai, while celebrations were held in the slums of Mumbai, where the film was set.
Slumdog Millionaire has received huge critical and commercial acclaim around the world.
The movie was also named Best Picture, while Doyle won Best Director. It won a total of eight awards from ten nominations.
Others winners at last night's ceremony in Los Angeles included Kate Winslet, who was named Best actress, and Sean Penn, who won Best Actor for Milk.
