Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen has revealed the band are working on new material.
The guitarist told Rolling Stone he had written “tons” of new songs.
“The essence of me is obviously there, and those drums, they’re always recognizable,” he said of the material.
“But people expect a certain thing from Van Halen, and this isn’t exactly bang-your-head-against-the-wall stuff.”
Van Halen have enjoyed a new wave of popularity since the guitarist reformed with singer Dave Lee Roth in 2007.
The band's reunion tour last year grossed $93million.
