Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon helped boost sales of Country Life butter by 85% in the last quarter.
Lydon appeared in a recent advertising campaign for Dairy Crest dressed in country tweeds.
The sharp increase has brightened Dairy Crest's outlook after it was forced to issue a profit warning last November.
The company has already had to lay off staff at its head office in Surrey because of inflated milk prices, according to The Guardian.
A Dairy Crest spokesperson said last year that the Sex Pistol had been chosen for the campaign because he was “a great British icon”.
