Ricky Gervais To Sing With Elmo On Sesame Street

Actor Ricky Gervais is to film a special guest appearance on the children's TV show Sesame Street.

Gervais will perform a self-penned song alongside the red furry monster Elmo.

"I've always liked the show and, as a failed rock star, I try to squeeze in the odd composition whenever possible,” the actor said.

Gervais, who appeared as himself in an episode of The Simpsons three years ago, is to film his Sesame Street spot in New York next month.

He will join an illustrious list of names who have appeared on the children's show, including James Blunt, Feist and R.E.M.
