M.I.A has spoken about her Oscar nomination for Best Song for Slumdog Millionaire.
The singer, who wrote 'O...Saya' alongside the film's composer A.R. Rahman, said the recognition was “a great honour”.
"Thank you to all the people who are supporting us and the making of a real story of a Slumdog Millionaire,” she told Rolling Stone.
The singer, who is expecting her first baby, added: “Maybe I can afford to book Dave Chappelle at the baby shower now.
“Thank you again; My mum wants everyone to know what wonderful news this is for her.”
Other compositions on the short list for Best Song include 'Jai-Ho', also from Slumdog Millionaire, and 'Down to Earth' from WALL-E.
Bruce Springsteen's song for The Wrestler, which recently won a Golden Globe, was a surprise omission from the category when the nominations were unveiled in Los Angeles yesterday (January 22nd).
As previously reported on Gigwise, M.I.A is due to give birth on February 8th – the same day she will find out if she has won Record of the Year at the Grammy Awards for 'Paper Planes'.
The Oscars will take place on February 22nd in Los Angeles.
