Parents Council Calls For Britney Spears Song To Be Banned From Radio

Parents in America have accused US radio stations of violating broadcast indecency law by playing Britney Spears' new single.

The American Parents Television Council have called for 'If You Seek Amy' to be removed from daytime and drivetime playlists (6am - 10pm).

The song has received widespread criticism because when sung by Spears the title sounds like “F U C K me”.

Despite initially voicing concern, the track is now receiving widespread circulation on US radio in both an edited and unedited format.

“There is no misinterpreting the lyrics to this song, and it’s certainly not about a girl named Amy,” PTC president Tim Winter told Billboard.

“It’s one thing for a song with these lyrics to be included on a CD so that fans who wish to hear it can do so, but it’s an entirely different matter when this song is played over the publicly owned airwaves, especially at a time when children are likely to be in the listening audience.”

In the song, Spears sings the full line: “All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy”, which sounds like: “All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to F U C K me.”

In a Jive-edited version, the 'K' has been removed so that Spears appears to sing: “If you see Amy”.

'If You Seek Amy' first sparked anger from parents of children in Australia shortly after it emerged on Spears' latest album 'Circus' in December.

    • Yeah, she has a lot to say but I'd rather not have my young teenage daughter listening to this trash!
