Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon has not been banned from attending this year's Latitude festival in Suffolk, organiser Melvyn Benn has said.
Benn was quoted in yesterday's Guardian newspaper as saying Hoon had been barred from the event following his decision to build a third runway at Heathrow airport.
However, in an interview with Suffolk & East online, Benn claimed he had only said it would be “strange” if Hoon chose to attend an eco-friendly festival.
“He hasn't been banned,” Benn said, adding: “If he buys a ticket, he buys a ticket.”
Benn, who also oversees the Reading and Leeds festivals, said he would give the Transport Secretary and his family a Latitude ticket for life if he overturned the expansion plans.
