Metallica and Run DMC are to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Jeff Beck, Little Anthony and the Imperials and Bobby Womack will also receive the honour at a ceremony in April.
The performer inductees were chosen by the 600 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.
Bands become eligible for inclusion twenty-five years after the release of their first recording.
Run DMC will become only the second hip-hop collective to join the Hall of Fame following Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five's induction in 2006.
The group, who formed in 1983, are widely regarded as one of the host influential hip-hop acts of all time.
Others inductees this years include Wanda Jackson and Elvis Presley bassist Bill Black.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction will take place at Cleveland's Public Hall on April 4th.
