Jennifer Hudson will sing the American national anthem before kick off at next month's Super Bowl in Florida.
The Grammy-nominated singer has not performed live since her mother, brother and nephew were killed at their home in Chicago last October.
Hudson's brother-in-law, William Balfour, has been charged with their murders.
The Super Bowl will mark the biggest of performance of the singer's career, with an estimated American audience of 150million people.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band play the coveted half-time show at the NFL spectacle on February 1st.
The performance will undoubtedly serve well for Springsteen's forthcoming album, 'Working On A Dream', which is released the week before the event.
