A photograph from Ringo Starr's 1981 wedding, which reunited the Beatles shortly after John Lennon's death, has gone on public display.
In the picture, Starr, Sir Paul McCartney and George Harrison are accompanied by their respective wives at the time, Barbara Bach, Linda McCartney and Olivia Trinidad Arias.
The photograph was taken at the reception for Starr and Bach's wedding in April 1981, which came less than six months after Lennon was shot dead in New York.
The picture forms part of a National Portrait Gallery touring exhibition about the changing idea of the family.
A spokesman said that the Family Album exhibition examines “how family life has been represented by artists over the centuries.”
Other photographs capture designer Dame Vivienne Westwood and Sir Winston Churchill. The exhibition is currently at Museums Sheffield.
You can see a selection of rare shots of John Lennon ,currently on display until March 2009 at the Beatles Story’s ‘The Many Faces of John Lennon’ exhibition, below.
