Andre Young Jr, the son of US rapper Dr Dre, died last year from an overdose of heroin and morphine, the LA County coroner’s office has said.
The 20-year-old was found unconscious by his mother at his home in Los Angeles last August.
Young Jr had returned home in the early hours of the morning after partying with friends.
The coroner ruled that his death was accidental following a toxicology test, spokesman Larry Dietz told the Reuters news agency.
In an emailed statement to Gigwise last August, Dr Dre’s publicist said: “Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son Andre Young Jr. Please respect his family’s grief and privacy at this time.”
As previously reported on Gigwise, Dr Dre is currently producing Eminem’s comeback album ‘Relapse’.
The rapper and producer was forced to put his own album, Detox', on hold in order to work with Eminem.
