Paul McCartney Warns Fans Not To Expect Much From Lost Beatles Song

Sir Paul McCartney has warned fans not to expect much from the lost Beatles song, ‘Carnival of Light’.

The avant-garde song was recorded in 1967 in between sessions for the track ‘Penny Lane’ and was only played live once.

Last month, Sir Paul reignited interest in the song when he said “the time has come” for fans to hear it.

In an interview with the Times newspaper, Sir Paul revealed that a dinner lady at his daughter’s school had recently asked him about 'Carnival Of Light'.

"I was like: 'I don't think you’d like it’/ People are thinking there's another 'Strawberry Fields' somewhere... this is more plinky-plonky. I mean, I like it, but it's not to everyone's taste,” he said.

Sir Paul has said the song will only ever be released with the permission of all of the Beatles remaining members and estates.

    As previously reported on Gigwise
, in what was a wide-ranging interview, Sir Paul also revealed that he and John Lennon used to take out personal advertisements in newspapers just so they could see their name in print.

You can read an extensive interview with Sir Paul, in which he talks about side-project The Fireman and his future, on Gigwise here.
