Amy Winehouse has asked if she can appear on a forthcoming series of BBC game show Hole in the Wall, according to reports.

The TV show, which challenges celebrities to jump through awkward shaped holes without falling into a swimming pool, has become a surprise hit with viewers.

Winehouse is said to become “addicted” to the programme while she has been taking a break from touring and thinks it's the “greatest TV show she’s seen in years”.

A source told the Sun newspaper: “Obviously, this year she hasn’t had the busiest work schedule so she has spent a lot of time in front of the box.

“She thinks the show is an absolute hoot and has asked producers if she can star in an upcoming episode.

“They’re giving it some thought but are understandably in two minds as to whether a junkie, wrapped in silver, jumping through holes will go down well with the prime-time viewing public.”

The programme is presented by Dale Winton and features regular team captains, dancer Anton Du Bec and cricketer Darren Gough.

As previously reported on Gigwise, Winehouse was admitted to the hospital last month after falling ill at her home in North London.

The singer's spokeswoman said she had suffered “a bad reaction” to a combination of prescribed medication.

Winehouse has suffered a string of illnesses throughout 2008, and was diagnosed with traces of the lung disease emphysema in June.

  • I would pay money to see Amy Winehouse on Hole in the Wall, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. I hope the producers give her the green light. She's hilarious; what about her wouldn't make for great TV? Love you, Amy Winehouse!
