Dutch trance DJ Tiesto has fuelled speculation surrounding a release of a DJ version of the video game Guitar Hero.
Creators Activision have refused to comment on various reports over recent months that have claimed the DJ spin off is due in 2009.
However, in his weekly newsletter to fans, DJ Tiesto wrote: “We are proud to announce that Tiesto has teamed up with the game developer Activision and their latest project DJ Hero.
“I am very excited about this! I think this is a great way to introduce people into DJing.
“Maybe they realise it's not as easy as they think. I am sure this brings new fans to the scene, dance music is not far from hip-hop for example. Hopefully the music I have composed appeals to all kinds of fans!”
Some reports suggest the game will use remote laptop turntable, which will allow users to scratch and perform other DJ tricks.
Guitar Hero, which allows gamers to play instruments interactively, has become a massive hit since it was first released in autumn 2005.
The three editions of the game have so far sold 14million copies - earning publishers RedOctane $1billion.
