Adele has said she isn't yet ready to win a Grammy Award, despite being nominated for four prizes at next year’s ceremony.
The singer, whose nominations include Record of the Year for 'Chasing Pavements', said she didn’t think an artist should get an award after just one album.
"I imagine it's like winning an Oscar and I don't think on this record I should get one," she told BBC 6Music.
"I think it should be with my second or third record that I should get the Oscar, like from your third or fourth film when you're amazing.”
Adele is one of a host of British stars who have been shortlisted for prizes.
The singer, who released her debut album ‘19’ earlier this year, said it would be “really important to me” if she won but thinking about it was already “making my heart race really fast”.
She added: "It would be lovely to get one but I don't feel like I need awards and stuff to feel good about my music.
"I can't see how this album life span could get any better and I don't feel like it needs to be. I'm already over the moon and blown away with people's response to it."
