White Lies lead the longlist for the BBC's Sound of 2009, which recognises emerging talent.
Other new acts up for the honour include Dan Black, Little Boots and LA Roux.
The longlist, which consists of 15 names, was selected by more than 130 journalists.
The winner will be announced in January.
Last year, the BBC Sound award went to Adele, with Duffy and The Ting Tings also named as acts to watch.
