John Paul Jones, bassist in Led Zeppelin, is to unite with Sonic Youth at a special concert in New York.
Jones will join the band at the Brooklyn Academy Of Music to honour the 90th birthday of choreographer Merce Cunningham.
The concert next April, entitled Merce Cunningham At 90, will feature music composed by Takehisa Kosug.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Jones recently revealed that he, Jimmy Page and Jason Bonham planned to tour together minus singer Robert Plant.
Plant ruled himself out of touring with Led Zeppelin again in August, saying that he found the constant speculation around the band's future “frustrating and ridiculous”.
Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Chris Cornell have all been linked to the vacancy.
