Promoters were forced to hand out tickets for a George Michael concert in Abu Dhabi last night (December 1st) after failing to sell them, according to reports.
The concert, dubbed Michael's farewell show, was organised to mark the United Arab Emirates Independence Day.
But organisers are reported to have struggled to sell the 35,000 tickets, which cost £35 each.
“A lot of the youngsters here aren’t interested in his music — they’re into up-to-date stuff. It was embarrassing,” a source told the Sun newspaper.
The date in Abu Dhabi came just months after Michael claimed to have ended his touring career in London.
As previously reported on Gigwise, the singer announced over the weekend that he is to release a festive song on Christmas Day.
Fans will be able to download ‘December Song (I Dreamed Of Christmas)’ for free from the singer’s website.
