The future of the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset has been safeguarded until at least 2010 because of it's value to the surrounding economy, organisers have said.
Mendip District Council last refused the festival a licence in 2002 after local villagers raised fears over crime.
But last year, the council granted an new four-year-deal, which will run until the start of the next decade.
"The local economy gets £100m a year. So there's no discussion about not allowing the festival a licence any more. They won't stop it now,” he said.
"They're all on board now because everybody earns some money from it - there are seven farms I have to rent.”
Eavis was speaking during an appearance on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs.
Next year's Glastonbury festival will run from June 26th-28th.
